La Pine Senior Citizens, Inc. (LPSC) is a non-profit organization and is supported by the members of the center through volunteering efforts. Volunteers give their time in the front office, front desk, fundraisers, grounds keeping, maintenance, and catering. They develop and maintain an active senior citizen program in the greater La Pine area of Oregon, including Southern Dechutes and Northern Kalmath counties. Their goal is to add to the quality of life for seniors through various activities, entertainment, recreation, and welfare programs. They also use their facility for business dinners, family reunions, memorial services, wedding/receptions, and any group gathering. They offer both non-profit and for-profit pricing.
La Pine offers lunches on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The lunch program is funded through the Older Americans Act. Small donation amounts are requested, but if someone is unable to pay, no fee is charged. Lunches are prepared onsite and monthly menus are available.
Bud McKinley of LPSC approached Culinary Software Services because the software they were using was restrictive and not owned by them. However, as a recipient of the ChefTec Fund they now own ChefTec and are able to order from multiple suppliers, manage recipes, and have inventory control, thereby saving time and money.
