Leading the Way with Innovative, Foodservice Software and Licensing Solutions
Since 1990, Culinary Software Services (CSS) has been creating software systems to meet the unique challenges of the foodservice and hospitality marketplace. CSS's primary products, CorTec and ChefTec Software, are the result of years of experience partnering with operations of every size, as they implement systems for accountability, communication and control.
Based in beautiful Boulder, Colorado, and founded by a chef and a computer programmer, CSS has grown to be a leader in the industry, servicing tens of thousands of installations around the world. CSS provides software solutions designed to meet the needs of diverse foodservice operations, from the largest venture with units around the world, to single-site operations. The company has excelled by focusing on creating powerful, flexible, easy-to-use solutions that address the industry's most complex, mission-critical issues. Widely recognized for its award-winning products, CSS enables customers to work more efficiently and to maximize profits.
The Beginning
On an island in the Caribbean in 1990, two entrepreneurs came up with a concept that later evolved into ChefTec/CorTec Software. One brought his deep foodservice industry knowledge, and the other, a career founded in computer software design and development. From the beginning, the two had a deep appreciation of how vital profit margins can be to the survival of operations in the foodservice space. They had a great solution.
Escoffier Software, the precursor to ChefTec and eventually CorTec, was the first inventory management software developed by CSS. Escoffier Software was named after Auguste Escoffier, the French culinary icon and chef who popularized and modernized the tradition of French cuisine. Escoffier Software quickly evolved into more than an inventory management system into the robust foodservice software, ChefTec/CorTec.
Now, with over thirty years of experience, CSS is considered the leader in foodservice software. The level of excellence CSS has brought to the field has resulted in winning the IQ Award for Software Products & Services, and ChefTec has twice won the Foodservice Innovator's Award for Excellence from the California Restaurant Association. ChefTec and CorTec are being used by over 45,000 users worldwide.
Values
CSS values its customers, community and global responsibility. In 1900, CSS created the "ChefTec Fund" to provide software to non-profit organizations. The company has also donated computers to local schools to fill their computer labs, and support the next generation of foodservice professionals through paid internship programs for students of hospitality, technology and marketing.
CSS recognizes excellence in their community, and has sponsored several organizations in Boulder, Colorado. The Colorado Music Festival is hosted each year at the Chautauqua Auditorium, and run by the Center for Musical Arts (www.COMusic.org). CSS has also supported the Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company (BETC.org), and programming at
the Shakespeare Festival of Boulder. All of these wonderful organizations create access to cultural events and performances for the Boulder community. CSS thanks them for their dedication to the arts.
On a global level, food waste is at an all-time high. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, roughly one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year, approximately 1.3 billion tons, gets lost or wasted. Although a small part of the food supply chain, CSS software can play a part by helping foodservice professionals track waste in production, and tailor more accurate portion sizes resulting in less food waste.
The Future
Always looking to the future, CSS now offers ChefTec and CorTec Cloud Services. ChefTec/CorTec Cloud Services lets foodservice professionals spend more time doing what they do best, and less time managing technology. With Cloud Services, CSS manages the servers, data backups, upgrades, and other technical management tasks so you don't have to. This significantly affects the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of your foodservice software. The future is bright!
