Restaurants Bounce Back with Gluten-Free Menu Items

BOULDER, Colo. - September 23, 2014 -- ChefTec Software, made by Culinary Software Services, allows restaurants to track accurate and reliable nutritional information for identified gluten-free menu items. ChefTec can identify ingredients such as wheat or soy within a recipe allowing restaurants to communicate the information to consumers, ensuring a favorable dining experience. In addition, ChefTec offers a Nutritional Analysis Service that provides nutrition data for over 6,500 ingredients.

Celiac disease, which impacts 3 million Americans, is an immune reaction to eating the protein gluten and is becoming a major health issue. An intolerance to gluten is four times more common now than 50 years ago.

"According to the USDA, food operations that use the term gluten free must contain less than 20 parts per million of gluten," said Brian Bennett, President of Culinary Software Services. "Due to the growing demand for gluten free menu items and concerns about other allergens, ChefTec is a cost effective and accurate way to keep track of ingredients."

Culinary Software Services will be showcasing ChefTec software at the Tri State Food Expo, October 27-28 at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, NJ and the WestEx Tradeshow, November 12 at Colorado Convention Center, Denver, CO.
